The Silent Night Holy Night lyrics were composed by a young priest, Joseph Mohr, in 1816, and the music was composed two years later by schoolmaster and organist Franz Gruber in 1818 at Mohr's request, just in time for Christmas. That may be just a story, though it isn't impossible.
